Even when she won’t fight for us, I’ll go to war for her…

Inside the Octagon, I have no fear. I’m at home, in my element, inflicting pain onto men trained to hurt me just as badly. Making them submit, knocking them out, maiming them, because it’s them or me. And I choose them. Outside the Octagon, my only weakness is a five-foot-two, classy as fuck woman that I’ve loved for most of my life. She’s the one that brings me to my knees, fills my arms, my heart, and one day soon, my bed. She makes me reckless. Volatile. I drink too much and try too hard to fuck my way out of feeling—all because of her. Frankie De Rosa is my girl, my best friend. I haven’t earned her yet, but I won’t stand by and let anyone take her from me. She will be the greatest fight of my life, but she’s worth the battle. Love hurts, but anything worth having does, right?

I’m Deacon “The Hitman” Love — Welcome to the Cage.

Love Hurts (Caged Love #1) by Mandi Beck
I LOVE Alpha CAVEMEN.

I REALLY needed this book, I haven't had an alpha male hero in a while. Deacon is definitely ALPHA with a dash of caveman. But….Frankie....OMG. I know that some of you will not agree with me and I won't hold that against you. Frankie, she really worked my nerve. I have not rolled my eyes at a heifer in a book in a long time and normally I don't stoop to name calling AND obscene language but you are going to get some in this review.

Deacon and his brothers all have a long history with Frankie, but she depend and call on him the most. Deacon finally confess his love to his childhood friend, Frankie, even though it wasn't the most opportune time......after the surprise proposal from her attorney boyfriend, Andrew. Things happen and some unexpected and unexplained drama unfolds. We get the true Deacon and we get a hot and cold Frankie. Slightly understandable, but I'm not liking Frankie at this point.

She wasn't whinny and annoying, if fact I gave her props for the way she handled herself against Deacon ex-skanks (which is truly what they were). She just does some dumb a$$ shite and then tries to play the victim card or use the excuse of being scared and trying to protect herself. EXAMPLE - Deacon and his brothers are at the bar trying to blow off some steam, since Deacon has experience ANOTHER fail attempt to change Frankie's mind about them. In walks Frankie and Cristiano (there is history, I won't explain just read it)......okay, she didn't know that he would be there BUT why join them AND let Cristiano snuggle up to you and kiss on you in front of Deacon. She KNOWS how he feels yet she still let it happens. But wait, there's more, when Deacon decides to leave....she sits there all hurt and teary-eyed because she thinks he is going to take the girl at the end of the bar home with him. Bitch Please - Bye Felicia!

I FREAKING HATE Frankie (see how quickly I can turn on you). CAN SHE BE ANY DUMBER?! Deacon is RIGHT THERE. All she has to do is say YES and mean it. Why does she let Cristiano hang on? She knows how to say no to Deacon but not to Cristiano. Deacon pours his heart out to her and she just sits there and cry or says something STUPID. Whatever. MOVE ON Deacon, someone out there will appreciate and love you. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

FINALLY, it looks like she is coming to her senses and calls Deacon..........Mother Fecker.........Cliffhangers, you got to LOVE them. Where is book two?

Mandi Beck

Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer. A nursing student, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met. Love Hurts is her debut novel and she is currently working on the next in the series along with whatever other voices are clamoring for attention in her mind.
